Proof that vanilla Chex Quest supports multiplayer
Most sources claim that the original executable that comes with the first Chex Quest does not support multiplayer. However, this is only partially true. They mostly only "disabled" multiplayer support by simply not including the drivers needed to get multiplayer working. Deathmatch IS actually disabled, however. See the pinned comment for more information.
However, as this video demonstrates, if you put a hacked version of Doom's IPXSETUP.EXE that's modified to refer to CHEX.EXE instead of DOOM.EXE in Chex Quest's directory and then run that, you can actually get a multiplayer game going in the original Chex Quest executable!
I released the hacked versions of IPXSETUP.EXE as well as a corresponding modified version of SERSETUP.EXE if anyone wants. As far as I know, Doom's original multiplayer drivers have been open-sourced. You can get them here: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1n2C7zGcQMZ5Lb-_Yh3zXfa68mOIl3ETI
If you're wondering why the game is running a bit slowly in this footage, it's probably because I had to have 2 instances of DOSBox open at once while one them recorded video and both of them had to communicate with each other, which my computer can't seem to handle too well. That's also why the other player isn't moving.
