Thought I'd try flailing around a bit with the "Orochi" versions of Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris you get in KOF '98 by holding down Start (the NeoGeo start button--in the PS2 version it defaults I think to Select) and then pressing a button as normal to select the character--you'll see their portrait in the selection area of the select screen change slightly when you press Start down.
They get some purple energy special moves and rather nifty supers--Chris' fireball is killer, against the AI, anyway. Yashiro doesn't feel as changed as Chris, and especially Shermie, who feels like she goes from this wacky grapple character to more of a fireballer. The Orochi thing is all a bit grim and necro for my tastes, but it's an interesting alternative, I guess!
At the very end, 22:47 , I switch back to the regular version of the team for the sake of comparison. : P I do rather embarrassingly poorly with all of them throughout so eh well it doesn't make for that great of a comparison, but hey, I'm just starting to learn this thing! = p
