I was so disappointed with the game that I didn't even bother trying to finish the demo properly.

I was bored like maybe halfway the playthrough that I just went ahead and did a beeline to the next objectives instead of exploring. It didn't help that whatever upgrades I got the heroine was gone when I tried to go back to Valhalla without finishing the quest. Never gave me a prompt that all changes won't be saved once I leave the quest.

The world was empty and bleak. Level design sucks (chests and key items such as those flowers hidden at the very end corner of a side street, overabundance of crates and chests to break for crystals). Yes the world was doomed but other games were able to make theirs more interesting and engaging than this.

MC was just as empty and bleak like the world she is in. IDK if she gets more personality in the complete game but in the demo I can't even feel even a lil bit attached to her. I thought she was Randgris at first but turns out she's a new one made for this game.

Art style was interesting but wasn't easy on my eyes. Some models appear to be blurry and muddy when zoomed out. That, in contrast with other models that are sharper and more detailed, made me get a headache afterwards because of the difference.

Combat was prolly the best thing in the game once you get used to it. It's just that you get stuck in the animation till it finishes, can't cancel early to dodge or block at least. It felt like DMC but flawed. Boss battles felt a lil bit like a Souls game though. It's not bad but it also didn't really leave a lasting impression to me.

The new einherjar system was quite nice but I prefer the old system wherein they fight alongside you as playable NPCS instead of being a quick summon for a few seconds. I read they only have 4 einherjars in this game too which is kinda a letdown for me. What got me so invested in VP2 Silmeria then was the abundance of playable characters (in the form of the einherjars), all with different stories and personalities.

I hate how you have to go to the menu to manually change skills because you can only have 4 equipped at a time and it sucks when the element you need is not what you are using.

Sorry for the rant, I had high hopes for this game as I was a huge VP2 Silmeria fan back then and was hoping to get that VP fix with this game but ended up being utterly disappointed instead. It's a spin-off game trying to ride the popularity of the previous Valkyrie Profile games.
