Sony has now PS5 m2 SSD slot unlocked, now you can install M2 SSD finally but right now it is in beta, it is available to PlayStation 5 Beta 2.0 software. Beta invite to PS5 is limited via sign ups through PlayStation Beta Program.
I tested Western Digital SN850 M2 SSD with the PS5 and using the heatsink from Micro Connectors with low profile design which comes with the thermal pads.
