Puyo Puyo 2 in 7:45
This run was recorded using a DVD recorder. The footage was taken from Puyo Puyo 2 on the Mega Drive, emulated on Wii Virtual Console. Many more people know this game under the title Kirby's Avalanche (SNES) or Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis). In my opinion, this speedrun is terrible. My Kirby's Avalanche speedrun dubs in at 7:43 which is faster than this run.
Here are the differences between this and Kirby's Avalanche:
* There are more opponents in Puyo Puyo 2, but Kirby's Avalanche has more stages.
* There are 5 stages in Puyo Puyo. To advance to the next stage, you not only have to beat the opponent, but you have to clear a certain amount of points. If you beat the opponent but fail to clear enough points, you have to verse another character in the same stage. That's right, there are more than one opponent in each stage. Therefore, it's not like Kirby's Avalanche where you have to verse every opponent.
* It's much harder to make combos because the "boulders" can cancel out the opponent's boulders. For an example, if your opponent gives you 4 boulders and you make a combo and give them 6 boulders, the opponent will only receive two boulders because they canceled out the other four. If the boulders are already dropped onto your board, then they don't get canceled out.
* The controls are improved, because you can turn your "Puyos" in narrow spots, which you couldn't do in Kirby's Avalanche.
* Since you don't have to beat every opponent, the game is much shorter.
