QC: debunking zorbulon
https://www.reddit.com/r/QuakeChampions/comments/706f0n/crouch_tap_jump_new_rocket_jump_tech/
The claim is that you can reach higher via rocket jumps by tapping crouch before you jump, similar to the RJ gimmicks at TF2. Zorbulon used this jump as an example, he could not reach the heavy armor with a regular jump, but could instead reach with his crouch gimmick.
So here's a video showing the same jump without crouching. You can't see crouch input in showkeys and it might be hard to see that I'm NOT crouching. So if it's not apparent, then you'll just have to take my word for it.
I'm sure it's just placebo and muscle memory things. Zorbulon simply times his RJ better when he taps crouch prior jumping, but I see no evidence to it affecting height. I also happen to time my RJs better if I do it in sync with a landing, rather than just flat out jump.
