QTE's in Marvel's Spider-Man game - The Problem and How they can be fixed!
So many have griped about the QTE'S or quick time events in Marvel's up and coming Spider-Man game. But why? What's the difference between a good QTE and a bad one? In this video, i dive into the differences and what Insomniac could possibly do to improve upon their dreaded but highly anticipated quick time events.
For those that want the Cliff Notes
Bad QTE:
1. Lazy - Unnecessary 01:22
2. Too many - Repetitive 01:38
3. Filler - Added just to pad the gameplay 02:15
4. Accomplished by mechanics in the game 03:17
Good QTE-
1.Feels connected- Sequence is connected the button prompt
2. Gameplay BEFORE the sequence. A QTE within a cinematic is doubled disconnection from the game.
3. Stakes are high. There needs to be a build-up to the QTE sequence. The bigger the QTE the bigger the build-up.
4. Broken up - Add variety so they don't feel monotonous.
