Quake beta3's E1M7 has a few very noticeable differences compared to the final game. The biggest is Chthon himself, who has a completely different texture that looks nothing like the one used in the final game. The switches needed to lower the electric. And, the huge monster telefrag party that occurs at the end of the map does not happen in this prototype.

This is also the first time a rune appears, where it is called a sigil when picked up. This happens with every rune in Beta3.

This map has been played in Hard difficulty in order to show off every enemy spawn that the level has.
