Pardon the questionable bunny hopping, inputs are tricky while recording.

If you want to get into quake and want it looking somewhat similar to this, use the following:

For a more modern engine, use Joequake. http://joequake.runecentral.com/downloads.html
Darplaces is good, too. But I've had bizarre issues with certain maps running it.

-Textures and hud elements (with a very useful readme file you should definitely...read) can be found here.

-Next, you're gonna wanna create a shortcut to joequake-gl, go into properties, click the shortcut tab, and paste all of this garbage at the very end of the line AFTER the quotations. This will give you a readable hud, modern resolution, and make the audio pack sound clear.

-width 1920 -height 1080 -bpp 32 -conwidth 640 -conheight 360 +set s_khz 44 -mem 32

-And FINALLY, make sure you enable cvar_savevars 2 in the console so your settings save. I'd recommend looking at the features page on the joequake project page and quake wiki to see if there are any settings you may want to tweak. Notable ones in this video are:

r_novis 1
r_wateralpha .3 -These two make water transparent.
fov 120 - For a bigger field of view.
cl_bob .005 - For less extreme weapon bobbing
cl_rollangle 0 - Keeps your view from tilting when you strafe.
