[Quake] fear "I No Longer Fear The Ranger Guarding My Heel" Casual NM 100% (v.1.7 with copper 1.3)
12Rusty one and done attempt of this map now it has been updated to the latest version of copper with the substantially overhauled copper 1.3 nightmare difficulty. A few major mistakes - overshooting the pro jumper 3 secret trigger, missing the drop from the heavens secret, falling off the conveyer belt of spawns, forgettin to press the first final gate switch (!) and letting two monsters go missing at the end but eh, recovery for them all was fine. Same route as my last playthrough (probably - i just noclipped around before to remind myself of the secrets and went on memory). The new copper feature of listing how many keys you have on the hud is very, very useful.
So the big question: Is copper 1.30's nightmare any harder overall? After much soul searching - not really, no. If anything I feel far more confident when playing with the normal 100 health cap and everything else is just a matter of re-learning behaviour and not under-dodging. Then again, that might be a function of this map being larger in scale and rarely being pushed into close quarters combat, where smaller dodges and spatial management would put me at risk from all of the new monster attack patterns and such.
As an aside: Zombies come back to life even when gibbed in copper 1.3. They only count for 100% kills once and resurrect with a different skin. It's rather obnoxious and unlike with prone zombie corpses, it's very easy to accidentally be standing over a stray gib that turns back into a zombie at point blank range when you're shooting explosives. Mostly it's just annoying to deal with. What a silly change.
