Questions for Atheists - How Do You Explain the Changed Lives of Christians Through History?
This question is quite popular among Christians to affirm their faith, but they ignore other religious groups that have similar experiences. Having several religious groups that can achieve this effect suggests there is something about religion in general that causes it, without the beliefs necessarily being true, since at least one of the religions must be false but still elicits the effect.
Psychologists and sociologists have combined with philosophers of religion to try and ascertain the mechanisms that might be involved. After all, if that can be worked out, the can be applied without the whole rigmarole of trying to work out which religion is true first, and practitioners can help everybody unilaterally without worrying about what faith they might be.
