Quick Update - HP Omen Laptop Battery Troubles #shorts #hpomen15 #battery
6Okay. Time now for an improved update to it all. This will also be on the short so listen up.
Over the past few days, my HP Omen 15-dh1065cl laptop has been having problems. Case in point, the battery. It has for whatever reason been discharging down to 94% anytime I plug the adapter into the laptop. And this isn't an occurrence. It's been happening a bit frequently. Every 3 or so days. When that happens, it takes roughly 30 or so minutes to recharge the battery fully. I kid you not. It's been a repeat occurrence and I worry that something bad is about to go down. What is it? I'm not sure. But here's the thing.
I called HP Omen support and explained the situation and it turns out that yes, it's normal for the battery to discharge. The Advanced Battery Optimizer for my HP Omen is set to Enabled/Activated. I don't mess with that because it's not my cup of tea. They know that it's wise not to mess with it. However, in order for me to have the battery replaced, it's going to cost me money. A LOT. They sent me two quotas.
The first was one where I send the laptop in, they would fix it and then send it back. Want to know how much I have to pay? $439. The second is that they send me a replacement battery and I have to replace it myself. That costs me around $156. It's a nice alternative but... I rather wait until I get my HP Care Pack. I'm getting that in November and when that happens, I have to wait 30 days for it to activate. The sooner that happens, I will call them and tell them to send me the box so I can send it in. It's a whole lot better than blowing $1000 or more on a new laptop and the cycle repeats. Besides, next year, I will be saving up to get a new one. That much I can assure you. If you are wondering, the money for the New 3DS XL capture board will remain untouched. Trust me. I got no interest in messing with it. What I will do is maybe try to record with my Windows 11 laptop. Besides, I already have OBS installed. I need to at least get Audacity in there. If that happens then I may try to get a video or two working. But it's going to be saved on my archives until the matter boils over.
What does it mean for my future playthroughs? Simple. They will need to be adjusted. Why adjusted? Because if my laptop is having discharge issues, I don't want to take the risk. I was really looking forward to doing Super Mario Wonder next week. Sadly that may not happen with my predicament. I still have to finish the following games: Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest Dai. I will be also doing Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Once these three are finished, that's it. I can't do anything else. I will be having to put all my efforts to see if I can get my laptop checked and fixed.
Since I probably won't do Super Mario Wonder, this leaves me with option number two, Spider-Man 2. And here's the thing, you guys know that I already 100%'d the following: Spider-Man. I did it three times, twice on PS4. Once on PS5. I also 100%'d the DLC for Spider-Man too. There's also Spider-Man Miles Morales. I was able to 100% it as well. And with my issues with the laptop, I've made a decision. It's not an easy one. It's not the best decision but it's the only way. I have decided that I will be getting Spider-Man 2 and I will be streaming it every day until I not only 100% the game but I will be getting the platinum. Like I did with God of War Ragnarok. I kid you not.
So here's the deal. I will be continuing to work on getting Sly 2, 3 and Dragon Quest Dai done. Once they are done, I'm holding off all work on videos until the laptop is fixed. Super Mario Wonder will have to be put on hold. I am going to get in touch with SquareTrade to see if they can send a box so that way, I can be able to get the laptop sent in and fixed. If they can, good. Things will return as normal. But if they can't then my options will be very limited. I am going to say this as bluntly as possible. There will not be a fundraiser to get the HP Care Pack. It's $185.09. I don't want to take advantage of your kindness and generosity. You guys have done that enough on more than one occasion. I really don't want to be like a certain other YouTuber who exploits his fans for the sake of pleasing his own ass. I speak of DarkSydePhil. That and I plan to get the HP Care Pack in November. Once I get that then I will be protected for another year and I will most likely do so one last time next year.
That's pretty much what my plans are for the time being. It's not the best decision but I have to do this. Things outside my control have gotten worse. I don't know what will happen. Not to mention it's been six months since mi abuela passed away... in a hospital of all places. It still hurts but I have to move forward. I'm thankful for my family who have supported me. I'm thankful to all my friends and I hope you guys look forward to the rest of my content for this month... even if things are going to slow way down.
