Godzilla Save the Earth is a Kaiju brawling game developed by Pipeworks Software and published by Atari for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2004. The story revolves around the collection of so called "G-Cells," which are bits of Godzilla's DNA. The alien race known as the Vortaak come to earth to retrieve the G-Cells while causing massive mayhem with their army of kaijus. Gameplay consists largely of two modes: single matches (for both single player and multiplayer modes), and the campaign mode. Campaign mode tasks the player with picking a kaiju and battling their way through a series of different monsters, ultimately facing Orga on the Vortaak home world. In between fights the player is given the opportunity to score extra points by completing mini-game challenges. If the player can make it to the end of the campaign, points are awarded based on the bonus points scored, difficulty used, etc., and these points can then be used to unlock more Kaijus, stages, etc. Overall this is a very fun and challenging game, and I highly recommend it to any Godzilla fan. Even people who are only nominally antiquated with Toho's various kaijus should find this an entertaining game. It did receive a sequel for the PS2, DS, and Wii called Godzilla Unleashed. Likewise, Godzilla Save the Earth is a sequel to Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee for the GameCube, Xbox, and Game Boy Advanced.
