Here is another arcade port to the Atari ST, a side scrolling shooter, R-Type! This port was made Electric Dreams.

And I must say, i think they did a fabulous job. Control is good, the tunes are decent, and the art is very colorful.

I have yet to cover many of Electric Dreams ports/creations, but this game is definitely programmed to target the Atari ST's features, not some quickly rushed out 'port' that just barely runs on the hardware.

I think this is definitely a good title to play on the ST. The only other question is, how does the more recently ported R-Type Deluxe for the Atari STE compare? Hopefully I will capture that release in the future!

Oh, and cheats are built into the game. Here is how to access them -

When asked for the second disk, press "Help" key, then type "ME" and press "Cursor Up"-key. Now function keys hold the cheat functions:

F5 Invulnerability from objects
F6 Invulnerability from lasers
F7 Infinite credits
F8 Enables nose cone control with mouse
