If The Legend of Zelda's first game was Majora's Mask and it was first made for Atari 2600, it might have been something like this game. Various events happen at certain times according to the game's global timer. The global timer starts when you turn on or reset the console. The speedrun timer starts when you first get control of the character. Therefore, it's best to wait on the title screen to get closer to the sunrise and required item spawns.
Note that this is the marathon route - the route I would take if running this game in a marathon like AGDQ. A true any% route would skip the map room and guess the ark's location correctly at the fastest location by having good luck. I'll probably do one of those too.
