Derek Bell and Hans-Joachim Stuck won the World Endurance Championship at Fuji International Raceway in 1985 - without even turning a wheel in the torrential rain. Conditions were so appalling that the European teams declined to take part, leaving the Rothmans Porsche pair to take the title from previous successes.
In the end, the distance was cut from 227 laps to just 62. The performance of local hero Kazuyoshi Hoshino in the V6 Nissan was some reward for the 80,000 spectators who braved the elements to watch the shortened race. Put your umbrella up while watching this film!
