Ralph Backstrom Passes Away at 83 - 1968 - Stanley Cup Finals - Game 1 - Canadiens @ Blues
Hockey lost a great role player on some great Montreal teams yesterday, as former Canadien and WHA pioneer Ralph Backstrom passed away at the age of 83. Many cups belong to this man and some great Montreal teams. To commemorate Ralph and those great Canadiens Cup teams, we travel back to 1968, the first year of expansion in the NHL, as Ralph, Jean Belizean, and Yvan The Roadrunner head to St. Louis to battle Mr Goalie Glenn Hall, Red Berenson and the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of the 1968 Stanley Cup Final Playoff. God bless you, Harry. Hopefully, you can get on a line with Rocket Richard and Howie Morenz up in heaven. If the good Lord is a hockey fan, he'll know you deserve it.
FYI please skip forward to see more of a tribute to Ralph after this video as you can see an encore presentation of Game 2 from the series finale of my Vintage Hockey Series!
