RAMP 2023 is the third edition of the Rabbit's All-comers Mapping Project! Like the others before it, it's a compilation of maps submitted by members of the Doom community, both new and old. The game is centered around a hub level, with completion of the submitted maps allowing players to progress in the hub.

This was an event to encourage people from inside and outside the community to dip into Doom/GZDoom mapping and to give them the chance to be part of a wider project. It's inspired by TerminusEst13's trilogy of DUMP WADs (the Doom Upstart Mapping Project), and aims to continue their welcoming spirit - to help people get started and try to make something!

About the Map:

As is the case with Nootsy's levels, some strategising is required as ammo and health aren't overly plentiful, and keeping on the move is advised to lessen as much damage as possible. The 'ugly gun' in the title refers to the custom weapon; a Plasma Rifle replacement that fires off arcs of electricity that deal heavy splash damage (and much to my chagrin, no autoaim, but that's beside the point).

A good usage of brightness is apparent inside and outside, and there is just enough 'openness' in the layout to allow freedom of movement. I would argue that the map gets 'easier' as one goes on, or at the very least, the final battle is perhaps the easiest due to not only the abundance of Soulspheres, but how congregated the enemies themselves are (infighting bonanza). Always a treat, and a challenge, to play through Noot's designs.
