R&C Size Matters - 5 (Finale): Upgrading weapons & HIG Treehouse!
The time has come to execute the PSP Emulator and finally play the R&C spin-offs made back in the day not by Insomniac, but by High Impact Games. I have put off these games for the longest time because I know how much of a grind getting 100% implies. But there were no excuses anymore, and here we start with the more bearable of the two, and actually a very competent Ratchet game, especially for handheld, R&C Size Matters. The story is an absolute fever dream (literally at one point), full of out of character moments and references that feel out of place and not earned, side minigames are not much fun and very repetitive, and also getting full completion is still a grind-fest with unbalanced levels and expensive weapons and mods all using the same currency, but it plays like a classic Ratchet game, it has very interesting weapon concepts and mods, and the most in-depth and creative armor system in the series!
In this fifth and final episode of our 100% run, it is time to grind to get all weapons to max level, and finally get to HIG's version of the Insomniac Museum, the HIG Treehouse! Still one of the coolest game completion bonuses ever, giving some insights into the development of the game. And once again, disclaimer: I use some of the handy emulator functions (speeding up and saving/loading states, mainly), but I try not to use them much and not abuse them for Size Matters! Next is Secret Agent Clank, though…
