Anco's ill-fated Kick Off series received a face lift in 97 with Kick Off 97. Unfortunately the old engine remained, and paled in comparison to releases from Gremlin and EA in the form of Actua Soccer 2 and FIFA 98. It's certainly playable in its way, and the design has a lot of nineties charm, but the AI and match engine mean that victory with Dino Dini was never an option. Lawnie plays as Northern Ireland and concedes a goal to Malta, because why not?
