Starforce is a vertically scrolling shooter released in 1984 by Tehkan.
As well as being released in the arcades it also had home versions on the Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, SG-1000, MSX, Wii and the mighty all powerful, beautiful X68000.

This game came up in a conversation while watching a Twitch stream, and it's a game I used to boss the hell out of in the Mablethorpe arcades back in the day.

It's a caravan shooter (so goes on forever (maybe)) and the enemy patterns are randomised. The skill in the game comes from recognising the enemy and it's pattern, then taking avoiding action depending on the enemy.

It makes sense the more you watch it :)

I personally love this game and it's probably the first scrolling shmup I played in the arcades.

Enjoy!
