Random Tech Question: USB problems

So I'm sitting here with my new wireless mouse and I was using it in the FRONT USB port and it was dragging the performance of the computer down BAD! I then plugged the USB adapter into the BACK of my computer and it runs fine!

I guess my question is why does this happen and is there any real cause for it?
