As you already know Javik is a Prothean squadmate that we can recruit during the mission Priority Eden Prime, which becomes available right after we leave The Citadel for the first time. So we can bring him into our crew really early in the game. However, if we wait to recruit Javik until after Priority Thessia, we will unlock some unique dialogue with Liara, Admiral Hackett and Javik during the Eden Prime mission. In this video, I’ll be comparing each line of unique dialogue with the original that we normally see.
During Priority Thessia we learn some crucial information but it’s also one of the low points in the story for Shepard and crew. We discover that the Asari had been hiding an artifact, which turns out to be a Prothean VI program that contains information on the Catalyst and the Crucible. Unfortunately before we can learn what the Catalyst is, the Cerberus rat-tail samurai swipes the Prothean VI and jets off planet. This makes the mission to Eden Prime even more desperate, as Shepard and crew are searching for any information that could help them with the missing component of the Crucible.
I wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing this on a normal playthrough because you’ll miss out on a lot of Javik’s commentary throughout the game - including on Thessia itself - which is one of the best missions to bring him on because of his unique dialogue. After Thessia there are only two main story missions - Sanctuary and Cronos Station - before you mount your final assault on Earth. This doesn’t give you a lot of time to explore Javik’s character.
I was still able to complete all scenes of his character arc related to the echo shard but we were not able to visit the Citadel. The big blowout fight between Javik and Liara also didn’t happen, since that usually triggers right after Thessia. This means that Javik will not go on to write a book with Liara, but will instead go rule the Hanar or announce his plans to commit suicide if he viewed the echo shard earlier in the game.
So there you have it - all unique dialogue related to the Protheans and the Catalyst that you can unlock by recruiting Javik after Priority Thessia.
