This game has been hidden away for 24 years...
About 3 days ago, the first ever version of Rayman, a prototype as we call it, built on the SNES has been dumped on the internet. This is coming without warrant by Ubisoft, but it's all in the understanding that it's to preserve gaming history.
Rayman's creator Michel Ancel, posted pictures of the game on his instagram. Developer Omar Cornut reached out to him and dumped the game for achival purposes. This is not Cornut's first rodeo in game preservation... As a matter of fact, you may be quite familiar with his work. His latest entry is the remake of Wonder Boy 3 from the Sega Master System of which the new title is Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap.
It's far from a complete game, but it definitely is playable and shows off Rayman's playful style on the SNES. The original finish game was released on the original playstation, Sega Saturn and Atari Jaguar... and now, with modern ports, can be found on almost anything... including the SNES
