BRITSOFT - AN ORAL HISTORY is based on transcripts of the documentary film "From Bedrooms To Billions", telling the stories of the foundation of the British software industry. With thirty-five different interviews and plenty of archive images (including rarely seen photos, magazine scans and artwork), it covers lone developers, software houses and the classic magazines. Edited by Alex Wilshire and weighing in at 420 pages, it is available from:

JAPANSOFT - AN ORAL HISTORY is the follow-up, based on The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers books by John Szczepaniak. John's trip to Japan saw him interview many famous developers and publishers, leading to over a thousand pages across three huge volumes. Alex Wilshire has edited down these pages to create the new 332-page volume, with clever indexing and artwork by Japanese illustrator Yu Nagaba. Rarely seen photos, adverts and artwork complement the well-structured text and informative boxouts. This is available from:

Note: this is not paid promotion or a sponsored video. The creator paid for both books themselves. As noted in the video, the original Britsoft review was recorded some time ago, and the Japansoft review recorded more recently.
