ready, intializing - lost planet animation
so i got my grubby lil mits on lost planet models, even tho i ripped the models from the files with armature and all i still had to do a lot of work to make this vs and nevec solider ready for videos.
first problem i ran into with the models was that the normals where completely messed up, normals are usually a purple ish color but lost planets normals where pink, looking at the color channels in gimp i found that it was using the alpha channel as the x or red channel. red and blue where solid. i made a fancy node set up to split the colors up to be used are a proper normal map. this is what i came up with. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/839010866552111104/1098205121504083988/image.png
second problem i had with the models was that the center point of the models or pelvis was not apart of the rigs, meaning i had to add it in and then weight paint the pelvis so the crotch will move with the rest of the body. very annoying
3 problem was that vs's have a visible damage system in the game and parts of the vs would get damaged or broken in game. in the models both the non damaged and damaged parts where on the model at the exact same time. so i had to slowly grab all the damaged parts and separate them from the models, and put them in a collection for damaged parts, same thing with non damaged parts.
4th problem was that neosis exports fbx files in the most annoying way possible by not naming the bones, by not making the bones symmetrical with a .R and .L, and by pointing all the bones straight up instead of having the parent bone's tail be on the child bone's head, so i went through it all naming everything, making the bones point the right way, remove bones that aren't connected to anything, ect.
im really happy with the results, i unfortunately could not rip lost planets sounds so i had to record the "ready. initializing" sound from game, all the other sounds are sounds ripped from acfa, except the wintery wind, i stole that from yt.
