Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny - Part 1 - Intro & Character Creation
A playthrough of another classic from my childhood, Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny. It's a very difficult game, and one that requires much time to understand and get into. It took me months to beat this game as a kid, but the time spent was well worth it. Although I know it fairly well at this point, the game is still full of difficult skill checks, instant death traps, and other dangers that can't be fully anticipated.
The party is thus -
Marcus Townsend, Jester - The leader of the party, and the 'social' character. He is a decent fighter, but serves more as utility, earning the party money so they can outfit themselves quickly and efficiently through his haggling skills.
Victor van Weist, Warrior - The party's main tank and melee DPS. Victor can wield the best weapons and armor, and aims to gather the enemy's attention on himself. He will be nearly immortal in this game, thanks to his incredible armour rating. Victor will wield the fabled Blade of Destiny in the end, since he's a follower of Rondra, Goddess of War.
Drake Olgardsson, Thorwalian - Drake is the off-tank. He favours axes, and is able to wear all the best armour, too. His only shortcoming is his terrible magic resistance, due to his class.
Dexter Fafard, Hunter - The party's main food and water gatherer, and leader in the out-of-doors. He is unmatched with the bow, and is easily the party's best damage source at the early stages of the game.
Memphis Dawntrail, Green Elf - Memphis will serve as Dexter's backup if he fails to find food or water. A jack of all trades, he can fight fairly well and use magic... once he's trained up enough.
Bernard Chagall, Combat Magician - The party's main spellcaster. He's versatile and will be incredibly valuable in the future, but at the start, it's incredibly difficult for him to cast any spells effectively.
