For several years now I've happily used my Tiny45 based i2c-to-serial bridge setup so that I can get the data values from the HMC5883L compass sensor and subsequently process it on the PC side to determine if I need to switch scenes and control the microscope ring light; recently it has started to misbehaving and losing connection though I'm not entirely sure why ( doesn't when linux has dubious USB port support over 10+ ports or so).

Recently I've migrated my i2c code over to the newer Tiny212 series of chips so I also am moving the compass bridge over using one of my unused USB-C meter boards as it already has all the prerequesites (USB serial connection, i2c devices, T212 uC).
