The do's and don't's of the Recon kit:

DO:
-Spot, spot, and spot some more. Your main goal is to spot enemies. Do it and do it often.
-Try to spot before you shoot in case you get taken out.
-Use your motion mines to help your team push up or take an effective defensive position.
-Call mortar strikes on populated areas or enemy MCOM stations/flags.
-Use C4 to set traps, blow up tanks, kill enemies behind walls, and destroy buildings.

DON'T:
-Sit in some obscure corner on the map or in your base, only trying to get kills with your rifle. Remember, you're trying to help your team.
-Forget your objective. The Recon kit can be used on offense or defense.
-Forget to use your mortar/C4 and motion sensors.
-Use the Recon kit if most of the other people on your team are using it too.
-Be a pussy.
