Comparison 1 of 2 of filming 3DS original vs XL.

Note the "XL" tag at the top left is present when the footage is from filming the 3DS XL. Nothing is there when its the original 3DS.

All in all the process and result of recording with camcorders feels exactly the same with both the 3DS and XL. There is no real difference in terms of Moire. Once I have framed the 3DS to the camera, I still have to either focus or have the camera zoomed back just about as much (relatively speaking, since the XL is bigger) in order to get rid of the Moire.

For this test:
3DS and XL Brightness both set to 4
Energy Save Mode OFF

Camera settings:
400 ISO
60 Shutter Speed
1080p23.97 (24p) Resolution
White Balance: Auto,0,0 (shit, I thought I defined manually -_-)
Sharpening: 0 (lowest)
Contrast: -3 (lowest)
Brightness: 0 (middle)
Saturation: -1
Hue: 0

The same looks applied to both 3DS / XL, looks like I buggered up 16:36 ~ 17:10 tho. Note to self: Don't push values too hard just because it looks OK in the areas you test it.

Despite the cock up, at least for world 1-1, when I hold the 3DS and XL up to my screen, the the 3DS footage looks closer to the 3DS screen and XL footage looks closer to the XL in terms of color (exactly what I wanted), I think the difference is a tiny bit exaggerated tho.

For the second test I'm going to make damn sure I use a manual white balance as well.
I'm also going to use 29.97 FPS as this is the highest frame rate YouTube will play back. (Will make the footage look a little bit smoother)
