You can recruit Kellogg avoiding the main story line which is to talk to Nick, follow Dogmeat, confront and take out Kellogg, go to the memory den prior to going to CIT you can aviod all that and get a good follower instead. This is possible using the mod "Depravity". My game is heavily modded running 870 mods currently, doubt I will add anymore since it took a while to get the game stable. I am using the mod Sanguinaire for a vampire playthrough which offers quite a few perks at the higher ranks and also using a mod called " cybernetic Implantation Lab", I mean Kellogg has cybernetics so why cant you. Currently at lvl 122 and have not done most of the main story line I have quite a few new land DLC mods and quest mods to keep me busy as well as settlement building. I have perk points maxed in Strong Back, Moving target and action girl letting me jog and fast travel overloaded but still get the annoying pop up message. And yes I have a few mods from LoversLab as well.
