Welcome to WILD WEST. As you begin your quest in RED DEAD REDEMPTION, you'll see a lot of sights and sounds of the age. The aesthetics of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the untamed southwest of the UNITED STATES are true to form here (though the year itself is 1910).
In the opening cinematic, JOHN MARSTON exits the Morningstar ferry in BLACKWATER and meets TWO FEDERAL AGENTS, EDGAR ROSS AND ARCHER FORDHAM. They are to ensure that John gets on the train headed to ARMADILLO. While on the train, he overhears the conversations of two elder women, Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Ditkiss, as well as that of a preacher and his companion, an optimistic young missionary named Jenny.
Upon reaching ARMADILLO, a man named JAKE(who has been hired by the Bureau of Investigation) guides Marston to Fort Mercer on horseback. After reaching the fort, Jake leaves JOHN MARSTON alone to deal with BILL WILLIAMSON AND HIS GANG.

The next few missions all start for BONNIE MACFARLANE, icon 'B' on the map.
You will wake up in MACFARLANE's RANCH. Bonnie will teach you about Deadeye and shooting.
At the end of the mission, you unlock: Repeater Carbine; DEADEYE Level 1; MACFARLANE's RANCH Safehouse; MACFARLANE's RANCH Night watch Job; Tumbleweed Hideout & Twin Rocks.
You have to race BONNIE. The game will teach you about your horse's health and how to avoid overworking it. If you lose the race, the mission is still completed.
