Red Dead Redemption on Xbox 360: Part 2 (RetroTINK 5x-Pro + mClassic 1440p)
As anyone who watches this channel regularly will know, I like to tinker to find the best resolutions that play nice with my setup, specifically the mClassic. While recording the last video, I ran into some problems with the Xbox 360's 1080p setting. Sometimes the picture would lose sync, ruining a recording and while the picture looks great there were still some noticeable jaggies. The mClassic works the best when there's a lower resolution it can really latch onto and clean up, but you don't want to set the resolution too low or else the image will be blurry and you will also have more of the telltale chickenpox you find with the lower resolutions on the 360s and the 480p of the Dreamcast. The solution is to find a good balance of crispness, but not too sharp or there will be jaggies. I believe I have found the sweet spot with with this video. The game looks fantastic when the resolution is set to 1280x1024, with almost no jaggies whatsoever. While probably not as good as an Xbox Series X, for being on an actual 360 the results are great. The only downfall is that the video is not in widescreen, and has the old fashioned black bars. Its crazy to think that native widescreen didn't really come into its own until the PS4 and Xbox One. Really shows that the smoke and mirrors of "console magic" has its limitations. Would you expect anything less from a piece of hardware that is expected to perform for 8 years despite the ever-changing technological landscape of our times? We are starting to see less of that now with half generations and pro consoles. Anyways I am ranting... enjoy the video.
