Strategy and tips:
What's not to like about this? One of the best, if not the most fun, missions in the game, a relatively easy gold, and as I show here, not too difficult to get both the Horseman 7 and Weapons Expert 5 Challenges completed whilst you do it. Some general things to note: if you want to do it like this, you must have Horseman Challenge 6 and Weapons Expert Challenge 4 complete before you start, also craft the maximum complement of 8 poisoned throwing knives (which can be crafted with a normal knife and oleander sage, I show how to find this elsewhere in the linked guide below). I also favor the loud approach of blowing the safes with dynamite. My instinct when I first did this was to quietly crack them, and true, that's probably the easiest way to complete the mission if you are not bothered about additional awards. However, doing it loud means you have to face extra lawmen on foot: this is really handy to boost your accuracy stat and creates an opportunity to get a head start on the Weapons Expert and Horseman Challenges as well. Another last bit of prep - to do it this way, you've got to be pretty gung-ho, so I recommend making sure you have a gold health core before starting, either by eating mint seasoned big game, buying an expensive meal in a saloon, or eating the camp stew when your food rating is gold. The accuracy is easy enough as said if you do the loud approach as you'll have plenty of lawmen on foot to fight. As is the requirement to loot all the safes. The main challenge is to headshot 5 mounted lawmen. But in doing this section, you should get Horseman Challenge 7 in the process if it's active, and Weapons Expert 5 if you use poisoned throwing knives. The main trick is to keep your Dead Eye topped up, and to know where the mounted lawmen come from - ride straight towards them, and take them out quickly, as the main risk is your accomplices will kill them first if you are not quick enough. Making the Downes Ranch in the time is easy enough, just follow the route shown in the video, mostly the yellow one on the radar, cutting some corners.
