Red Dead Revolver - Chapter 25: The Siege (Xbox Series X)
Red Dead Revolver is the first game in the Red Dead series. Less well-known than Red Dead Redemption I and II, it has quite a different style - being set across various missions, rather than the open world gameplay of the later games in the series.
It originally began development in 2000, by Angel Studios - who were in turn funded and overseen by Capcom (creators of the Resident Evil series and many others). The game was intended to be a spiritual successor of sorts to an old arcade game made by Capcom - Gun.Smoke, released in 1985.
Red Dead Revolver had problems throughout development, and was eventually cancelled by Capcom. This was not the end for the game, however, as Angel Studios would go on to be acquired by Take-Two Interactive - the parent company of Rockstar Games. Angel Studios went on to be renamed as Rockstar San Diego, and Red Dead Revolver - having been reviewed by Rockstar Games executives - was allowed to be completed.
The game released in May, 2004, on the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. Later on, the PS2 version was released again digitally on the PlayStation Network for PS4 - on the 11th of October, 2016. The original Xbox version waited longer before being revived, having only recently been made available via backwards compatibility for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S - on the 15th of November, 2021.
