Reflecting on a Strange Kind of Toxic Fandom I've Experienced Lately
Reflecting on a kind of toxic fandom I experienced in the comments section of some recent Final Fantasy and NieR videos over a few critiques that drew the ire of several fans in some now-deleted comments.
A kind of fandom where you justify the individual bad parts of a game because the overall game is good - in other words, a "forest from the trees" type of fandom.
But no game is perfect, even the perfect ones. And if any part of the game is bad or unengaging, rather than defend it with rationalizations, do the game/series a favor and call it out.
