Maurice Turner visited Google’s office in Mountain View to discuss his journey to change more than 1400 federally recognized offensive place names.

Senate fellow Maurice Turner discovered a racist place name as he was hiking Shenandoah National Park in late 2015. This led him to take action, eventually getting the name changed officially by the U.S. Board of Geographic Names. In the process, he discovered more than 1400 other federally recognized offensive place names, which he is now working to get changed. In this conversation, we will learn more about Maurice’s quest and how Google’s impacts people in the real world!
