Rescuing an Onkyo AVR which was under water for 2 to 3 days
0Hi All, This video contains a collection of photos and a video clip. Last year we got an Onkyo AVR which was under water for 2 to 3 days due to the floods in Kerala. Things turned out to be really bad when Kerala was hit by floods due to bad weather and sudden opening of almost all the dams in Kerala, many lost theirs loved ones, homes, it was really sad and we all were shocked. When the water drained out people started going back to their homes to start again from scratch. At that point we got him from his owner who lost almost every thing in his house. At one glance itself we could tell that it was in a real bad condition. Clay was deposited in all the circuit board of the amplifier. All the speaker boxes were gone as the entire sound system was under water for few days. The speaker were some how saved by another technician, the speaker boxes was in a diluted state and we're totally destroyed. We took up the challenge of saving him, all the credit goes to my brother who worked really hard who is an electronics enthusiast. Due to technical issues I was unable to capture the full video of fixing the amp. All the effort he put was returned in the form of sweet sound from the songs played in it. In short he rescued him and brought back to life!!!. And a big salute to the entire Onkyo team for the quality of the product, the amp mainly survived due to the good quality of all the components inside it. Some of you might think that this is an amp collecting dust and we have just cleaned it. That's not the case the brown color that you see in pic is a thick deposite of dried clay and sand mixture.
