The Resident Evil 4 remake is the best of the RE-engine era of Resident Evil titles. It took many lessons learned from the prior two remakes to heart to deliver an excellent remake.

It’s not better than the original, and I wasn’t expecting it to be. But it turned out about as well as I could imagine in this day and age.

There are a number of tweaks and adjustments to keep things fresh and keep you guessing.

While there are some disappointing cuts and the story loses a fair amount of its charm compared to the original, it’s a remake that Capcom should be proud of. One in which I’m hoping is the end of Resident Evil remakes and focusing on the future, although the ending seems to indicate otherwise.
