DId you know that original Resident Evil was meant to be a remake of a NES horror game called Sweet Home. But because Capcom lost the rights to the Sweet Home license, the creators had to come up with a new world. However, it it retained a lot of the elements from Sweet Home, such as the mansion setting, the limited inventory, and even the loading animation.
