Retro Weekend is a Weekend Special where I play Retro Video Games for 3 Days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In this Part 1 of Retro Weekend we're going to stream and play the Video Game Crash Bandicoot. It's my first time playing the original game and I used the PS1 Emulator to set it up. I'm not a really huge fan of Crash, but I decided to give it a try, had to configure the settings on my PS1 Emulator and eventually everything was working more or less well.
Crash Bandicoot is a platform video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation. The game was released in North America in September 1996, and in Europe in November 1996. Crash Bandicoot is the first installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, chronicling the creation of the title character at the hands of series antagonist Doctor Neo Cortex and henchman Doctor Nitrus Brio.
Crash Bandicoot is a platform game in which players control the titular protagonist, Crash, as he traverses several levels in sequence in order to progress. Crash is able to defeat enemies by either jumping on them or using a spinning attack that launches them. Crash will lose a life if he is hit by an enemy or obstacle, or falls into a bottomless pit. Crash can protect himself by collecting Aku Aku masks, which protect Crash from a single hit from an enemy or obstacle (but not pits or other instant-death obstacles). Crash can hold onto two masks at a time and, upon collecting a third mask, will gain temporary invincibility.
Crash Bandicoot is the main titular protagonist of the Crash Bandicoot series. Originally planned to be named Willie the Wombat, he is an Eastern Barred Bandicoot living on N. Sanity Island, who was captured and evolved by Doctor Neo Cortex.
Dr. Neo Cortex has a plan to take over the world, and he wants to create genetically engineered animals to do his bidding. To create his minions, Cortex kidnaps as many animals as he can; Crash Bandicoot's girlfriend just happens to be one of his victims. Take control of Crash as he runs, jumps, and spins through 30 levels of intense action on three different Australian islands. Luckily, Crash finds some items that help him out along the way: collecting 100 pieces of fruit will earn Crash an extra life, finding the witch doctor's mask will let Crash take extra hits, and finishing levels without losing a life will earn gems. With enough gems, bonus levels open-up. Only you can help Crash save the animals, save his girlfriend, and foil Dr. Cortex's nefarious plot. Are you willing to take on the challenge of Crash Bandicoot?
