[Synopsis]

In this video, I show you how to setup and run the Capcom CPS 1, CPS 2, and CPS 3 emulators on Retropie using a Raspberry Pi 4. On the Retropie emulation station, there is no folder for Capcom CPS1, CPS2, or CPS3, but it is possible to run those roms.

The Capcom CPS 1 to CPS 3 were arcade boards that were used for Capcom arcade games from 1985 to 1999. The CPS 1 and CPS 2 used 16 bit microprocessors, while the Capcom CPS-3 used a Hitachi SH-2 CPU. 32 bit RISC processor. All of the CPS-3 games were fighting games which were Street Fighter 2 like. The CPS-1 and CPS-2 had a lot of side scrolling action, isometric shooters, and beat em up games, like 1942, Strider, Ghoul's'n Ghost, Final Fight, Alien vs. Predator, Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom, Punisher, etc.

Most Capcom CPS roms don't run on Mame, it is a specialized emulator, like Neo Geo, Sega Super Model 2, or Sega Super Model 3. By being able to use Capcom CPS emulators, you can play more arcade classic games.
