Time to put the RetroTink 2X-Pro and 2X-Pro-M to the test! How will they perform? Are the results noticeable or it is all just advertising technobabble? Will this make Retro Games better and more presentable? Find out today as we go over the devices and show game play from SNES and N64!

*On a TV, this capture footage is reflective of what it looks like when the content is 16:9. Within OBS using my Elgato Capture Card, I've never been able to get RetroTINK devices other than the 5X Pro to display as 4:3 until recently (2023). There are a number of videos featuring the 2X Pro now now on the channel that show proper 4:3 (See the recent 2X Pro/5X Pro vs Generic Upscalers Video https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWCN_tXkRcyBwoqLze3L6zB_in3Cwa7vr )

"Original" Footage recorded by having the console inserted into the analogue breakout cable input on the StarTech USB3HDCAP Capture Card, using OBS Software.

"2XPro/2XPro-M" Footage captured by having the console plug into the RetroTink Device, the using an HDMI Cable from the RetroTink Device to the StarTech's HDMI Input. Used OBS.

Update: I’ve learned a lot since this video. Better understanding on what settings on capture software that really makes these consoles and RetroTink shine. Newer videos showcase the content with more optimized settings for the sources.

Second Update: Although many of the features of the two devices are similar, there is one difference I was unaware of at the time of filming. The Multiformat doesn’t have the “Smooth” Filter, instead is has was RetroTink describes as “Improved Composite Decoding.” So instead of giving it the same filters as the Pro, they improved the method at which it decodes composite sources.
