時は1802年。200トン以上の交易品を積んだ商船「オブラ・ディン号」が、ロンドンから東方に向けて出港した。
その6か月後、同船は予定されていた喜望峰への到達を果たさず、消息不明扱いとなった。

そして今日、1807年10月14日早朝のこと。
オブラ・ディン号は突然、ファルマス港に姿を現す。
帆は損傷し、船員の姿も見えない。
これを受け、東インド会社ロンドン本社所属の保険調査官が、ただちにファルマス港に派遣された。
同船内を直接調べ、損害査定書を作成するために――。

「Return of the Obra Dinn」は、探索と論理的推理で展開する、一人称視点の謎解きミステリーアドベンチャーゲームである。
