In this video, I'm showcasing Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing gameplay as an example of Sega Dreamcast emulation on my RG353M with ArkOS. Special thanks to the ArkOS team for their hard work (sharing many ‘under the hood’ features with JELOS and RA), especially the friendly and helpful Christian Haitian. Another special thanks to the Anbernic Official Store on AliExpress for offering me a good discount on this device. For me, the RG353M is the ultimate retro handheld, it ticks all the boxes when it comes to portability, pocketable, premium build quality, nice 3.5 inch IPS screen (640x480) with 4:3 aspect ratio (which is ideal for retro gaming), 2GB RAM, dual boot (Android & Linux), a 3500 mAh (around 6 hours of gameplay), great price-to-performance ratio with impressive performance of the RK3566 chipset (flawless emulation up to Dreamcast, PS1, PSP) and it’s under $150 (costs about $137).

Setting up ArkOS on your device:
1. Format your micro-SD cards (using SD Card Formatter). Use a smaller micro-SD card (TF1) for the OS (16GB or 32GB) and a bigger micro-SD card (TF2) for the game roms (128 GB or 256 GB)
2. Download the ArkOS img file in the ‘Download Links’ section from their wiki page here: https://github.com/christianhaitian/arkos/wiki
3. Flash/write the ArkOS img file (after unzipping it) onto SD1 (TF1) using balenaEtcher or rufus (I use rufus)
4. Put the SD1 (OS) back in the device (to extend the file partition), boot up/turn on the device, go to ‘Options’ – ‘Advance’ – put SD2 (in TF2) – choose ‘Switch to SD2 for ROMS’ so that ArkOS will create the file structure/systems for your game roms
5. Configure the network/WIFI settings from ‘Options’ – ‘WIFI’
6. Update ArkOS (is case there is an available update) from ‘Options’ – ‘Update’
7. Shut down the device, take out SD2 and start copying your bios files & game roms, make sure to check the ArkOS emulators/systems/file types here: https://github.com/christianhaitian/arkos/wiki/ArkOS-Emulators-and-Ports-information
8. Set the screen scraper account to download your game systems’ box art (from ‘Menu’ – ‘Scraper’)
9. (optional) Download some themes of your choice (from ‘Options’ – ‘Tools’ – ‘ThemeMaster’), special thanks to JohnIrvine for his hard work
10. (optional) Download some free games of your choice (from ‘Options’ – ‘Tools’ – ‘PortMaster’), special thanks to the PortMaster team for their hard work
