Rheal Cormier Succumbs to Cancer at 53 - Early Season 2003 - Mets @ Phillies
One of my favorite, forgotten, Phillie firemen, Rheal Cormier, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer at the young age of 53. In 2004, for a floundering Phillies team in their new park, Rheal pitched expertly with an ERA of 1.71. Unbelievable for that time or this time for that matter
My heart goes out to his family and all who's lives he touched. To memorialize Rheal, we go back to the last year at Veterans Stadium 🏟, 2003, as the Phillies host the hated New York Mets. Relive some Phillie greats on this team as we wait for Rheal to show his face in the late innings. Rest well, Rheal Cormier, you get to come in and relieve Whitey Ford and Bob Gibson on heaven's team now.
