Why do we need rights in a democracy? Key concept: Demouracy-a system of government by all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
(i) Right protect minorities from the oppression of majority. They ensure that the majority cannot do whaterer it likes.
(ii) Rights are neccessary in a democracy so that citizens can express their opinion, from political parties and take part in political activities.
