Riven: The Sequel to Myst, the second game in the Myst series, was originally released October 1997 on five CDRoms - each island was contained on a separate CD, leading to a terrible fright one night when I was playing it in a dark room, with headphones on and volume turned right up, fully immersed within the game. I travelled to the next island after not long starting a new game and almost jumped through the roof when the CD tray ejected all by itself in the sudden silence left by the game waiting for the next disc.

Like my playthrough of realMyst, I know how to find many of the puzzle answers in Riven. However, Cyan were pretty clever back in the day, and a lot of the coded puzzles are given a randomised combination at the start of the game, meaning that you need to actually complete certain parts of the game in order to get the good ending - or any ending, for that matter... As such, I do kind of speed through the screens faster than I would have if I were playing this for the first time.

This version of Riven is the edition published for the Myst 25th Anniversary collection - yes, I have the pretty pretty Myst Linking Book boxed set that was released at the time - so fortunately, no disc swaps needed to play the game.
