River City Ransom EX Never Looked This Good! PLUS Sendico Scores!
We’re going full GameCube and Super Famicom in this one! Rad Chaser and Son of Rad Chaser are back, and today’s adventure is all about pixel perfection, oddball imports, and deep cuts from Nintendo’s wildest eras.
First up: Game Boy Player magic on a CRT TV.
We hook up the Game Boy Player to the GameCube kiosk setup and fire up River City Ransom EX—a Game Boy Advance remake of the classic NES beat-’em-up. The result? GBA visuals that pop on a CRT. The punches feel heavier, the sprites look sharper, and the sound hits just right when coming through real speakers. We talk about how the EX version updates the original with new dialogue, tag mechanics, more refined combat, and even added RPG elements. Plus, we take a minute to admire how clean the CRT/GC combo looks in person—seriously, the kiosk setup is doing overtime. If you ever wondered whether GBA games are worth playing this way, we’ve got thoughts.
Then we switch gears for a stacked Sendico import haul—Part 1!
Let’s talk Japanese treasures. First, we crack into a bunch of Super Famicom games:
• Super Donkey Kong – The Japanese version of Donkey Kong Country. Still a graphical flex. We chat about how Rare’s silicon graphics blew minds back then, and why this version might hit different with the Japanese box art and label design.
• Puzzle Bobble – The classic bubble-matching puzzle game that never stops being addictive. We compare it to the arcade experience and talk about the difference between the SNES and Super Famicom ports.
• Chrono Trigger – You already know. One of the greatest JRPGs of all time. But seeing that Japanese box and cart in person? Gorgeous. We talk about the art, the legacy, and why it’s still one of the most important time-travel stories in gaming.
• Excite Stage ’96 – A hidden gem (sorry, a deep cut) based on Japan’s J-League soccer. The intro screen alone is a whole mood. It’s fun, fast, and very 90s.
• Dragon Quest VI – Part of the legendary Zenithian trilogy, this one never came out on SNES in the U.S. We break down why this entry is underrated, the way it handles class systems, and how it fits into the Dragon Que
Then we jump into a few Nintendo DS imports:
• Yoshi Touch & Go – A weird, beautiful tech demo turned full game. You’re drawing clouds, guiding baby Mario, and trying to survive endless scrolling chaos. Feels like peak DS launch window experimentation.
• Feel the Magic XY/XX – The launch title that dared to be weird. You blow into the mic to save people, rub the screen to pull rabbits out of hats, and navigate strange romantic minigames—all wrapped in an ultra-minimalist art style. This is WarioWare meets dating sim meets fever dream.
• Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales – More than just cute. This one blends mini-games, card battles, and a surprising amount of charm into a surprisingly deep portable experience. Also: that intro music hits.
• Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days – The DS game that dared to get complicated. Roxas, Organization XIII, and all the drama in between. We talk about how impressive it is technically (multiplayer KH on a DS!) and how its story fits into the wider KH timeline.
Both segments will continue in the next video. We’ve got more to show from the Game Boy Player side of things, and another huge Sendico box to open. If you’re into Japanese games, retro imports, or just love seeing rare stuff up close, you won’t want to miss it.
As always, thanks for being on the journey with us. This is what Rad Chaser is all about—hunting down the strange, the beautiful, the forgotten, and the fun.
