Mugen (stylized as M.U.G.E.N) is a freeware 2D fighting game engine designed by Elecbyte.[1] Content is created by the community, and thousands of fighters, both original and from popular fiction, have been created. It is written in C and originally used the Allegro library. The latest versions of the engine use the SDL library.
MUGEN (estilizado como M.U.G.E.N)e un motor de videojuegos de lucha en dos dimensiones (2D) gratuito lanzado el 17 de julio de 1999 por Elecbyte, desarrollado usando el Lenguaje de Programación C que originalmente utilizó la biblioteca de programación «Allegro». La versión actual utiliza la biblioteca «SDL».
El nombre del motor deriva de la palabra japonesa Mugen (無限 mugen?, infinito), debido a las infinitas o ilimitadas posibilidades que ofrece el mismo.
